Proper Paintings - PORTRAITURE

I can undertake any portrait commission. Most importantly I am perfectly happy to paint from reference photographs, although I would prefer to do my own photography and agree with my client the chosen pose.

I am trained in several painting 'practices' so it is optional to my client as to which style they prefer. For the technique of egg tempera painting I use my own ground pigments bound with traditional mediums. I hand make the supports for these, from panel coated with multiple layers of gesso, again, made from traditional recipes dating from Medieval times. The paintings can be further enhanced by the use of pure gold leaf and finally sealed using hand made varnish from dammar resin. Alternatively, I can use hand made oil paints bound with mediums used in the Renaissance, or the finest quality commercially produced oils. I can use board and gesso supports for these as described above or fine quality primed canvas. Notice too the marked difference in styles. I can paint faithful classical reproductions of the Grand Master paintings or those which are less formal in both style and composition. Paintings can be supplied framed if required which could even be embellished with gold leaf. All you need to do is discuss your requirement with me.
